I hope you’ve had a wonderful Easter long weekend and the wild daffodils and crocuses are getting you inspired for Spring 🙂 This is just a quick note for a couple of reasons:
1. Maternity in the Market which was set to run this Saturday has been postponed until May. Thank you to those who have booked for giving me this latitude! Exact date TBA, but a Sunday will be much more beneficial to all involved. AND, if you know of anyone who is pregnant and wanting a complimentary maternity session to add on to their newborn session, please let them know about this fantastic opportunity! Mom-to-be must be due in June, July and or August.

I gotta say, 2011 was a truly wonderful year for me both personally (except for my pooch 🙁 ) and professionally. The two are linked so closely and this was the year that I jumped on opportunities with both feet, got my groove back and felt more grounded than I’ve probably ever felt. And THAT my friends, is a good feeling!
To celebrate, I’ve put together a small slideshow of some of my favourite shots from the past year. I think it’s important to reflect on the past, learn from it all and then move on. So here’s to 2011 and look out 2012! I’m ready to take on whatever it brings!

Urban and fun! I so enjoyed my Maternity in the Market mini sessions this fall and here is another example of just how awesome they were 🙂 Mom is due right around Christmas, so I can’t wait to meet this lil’ babe over the holidays and see how big sis will most likely “mother hen” him! It’s always so amazing to see how “grown up” siblings seem once a new bairn arrives on the scene!

Cutest.Bump.Ever. This wee bairn isn’t due until January, but I had the pleasure of doing a mini maternity session with Mom and Dad-to-be in Ottawa’s beautiful Byward Market. Gorgeous weather, gorgeous couple, can’t wait to meet the wee one for our newborn session in January!

Wow…Friday was a whirlwind day and one that took me by storm…I am absolutely THRILLED to announce that I received a Recognition of Merit from the National Association of Professional Child Photographers (NAPCP) for my maternity image “Pure”!!! The acclaimed panel of judges went through the thousands of photographs from all over the world and scored based on technical merit, creativity and composition, and impact. To be recognized by these incredibly talented judges in an international photography competition is an amazing honour. 2011 has been such a fantastic year and this is just the icing on a rather incredible cake! Thank you NAPCP for the recognition and judges for the vast amount of time it must have taken to sort through and score everything. It is essential for professional growth to receive feedback (both positive and constructive) and all the comments were so beneficial! Thank you, thank you, thank YOU!

This summer I had the pleasure of photographing this adorable, fun and willing-to-do-it-all-couple’s maternity session. I knew it was going to be this was because during the consultation process I found out that the baby’s nickname was “Big Mac” due to their last name. The funny part was, Mom-to-be has never had a Big Mac before, but she wanted some images with said food. How fun was that!?

Wowsers…Our session on Wednesday night was absolutely gorgeous! I literally did an eenie-meenie-minie-mo to choose a. which part of our session to share and b. which images to share! Mommie-to-be looked fabulous in whatever she had on, but I was stunned by her ease and comfort in this cute little dress she chose…I would kill for her legs normally, let alone when I’m pregnant! lol!

This Mom came ready to rock and roll for her maternity session in Austin ~ She’s a tiny wee thing and in amazing shape as she’s a Crossfit Trainer. However, what really floored me was that…get this…she likes Red Green! Are you kidding me?? The goofiest Canadian show and she not only knows it, she LIKES it! Her husband hasn’t seen an episode yet, but they’ve been trying to find them so that he knows what she’s talking about…I couldn’t stop laughing!! Well Victoria, I’ve got one for you…My father-in-law went to school with him!!!
