Happy Hallowe’en! It’s kind of grey and dark, but at least it’s not snowing! I present to you… Katniss & Spiderman!

Halloween2014

And the award for “the world’s most pathetic Unicorn with a Princess riding on her back who doesn’t fit her costume even though it’s a large and she’s supposed to be a medium sized dog, but she’s 45 lbs and 7 months old” goes to… Cedar!

And yes, I’m fully aware that was a run on sentence 😉 Too many “fun sized” chocolate bars me thinks!

Soooo, remember when I said I was going to do a DNA test on my dog?  Well, the results are in and let’s just say NO ONE wins!!

Little Miss Cedar who is now 4.5 months old or so is…drum roll please… Level 3 Chinese Shar-Pei, Level 3 Rottweiler, Level 4 Pembroke Welsh Corgi, and Level 5 some pooch I’d never heard of called an Ibizan Hound!  I was so so SO surprised that she didn’t have any Lab in her as she really seemed like she had Lab qualities.  I did, however, predict right in the sense that I said she must have come wrinkle type dog in her (and if you squish up the fur forward in her face she looks like a Shar-Pei…party trick!) and I knew she must have some herding dog in her.  Her underbite made us suspect that she had a smaller breed in her as well as the fact that she was the tallest out of her litter.  The rest were akin to adorable potbellied pigs.

I was wrong in that she has absolutely no aardvark or piranha in her.  Go figure.

And in other Cedar news, she’s grown out of her wee puppy collar and has moved on to her big girl collar.  Sniff.

So, thank you DNA My Dog for clearing up our confusion. Now we wait to see how big this little girl will get. My guess is about 50 pounds, but time will tell!

Well, we did it.  We took the plunge and rescued an adorable little puppy from SCARS (Second Chance Animal Rescue Society).  Anyone who knows me or has read my blog knows how hard it was when our sweet Sitka passed 2.5 years ago.  It has taken me this long to even think I could do it again… I’m not going to lie, the thought of getting a puppy seemed daunting, but we just felt like something was missing.  So after a lot of searching (stalking) various websites and debating on the type of dog we would get, we decided to see what nature had in store for us!

We have had her a month and we just can’t imagine life without her!  She has changed so much (doubled her weight!) which made me *really* want to know what this little girl was, so I ordered a simple cheek swab DNA kit from DNA My Dog.  I have my suspicions, but she’s still quite wee (only 14.5 lbs) and has a bit of an underbite which is perplexing.  She’s very food motivated and will play fetch, which I love!  I do, however, think she has part piranha-part ant eater, but  I would love to know what you think she might be!  Make sure you leave me a comment and I will be sure to update you all when we get the results in a couple of weeks!

So without further ado, meet our adorable little pup Cedar (we decided to stick with a tree name thanks to a great friend’s suggestion…except I keep calling the poor wee thing Sitka, so I’m sure she’ll have an identity crisis in her teen years!)
